Magazine Design
Cover to Cover is a series of fashion portraits turned magazine covers. Combining my love of typography, color and photography, I chose to design a set of “faux” magazine covers. Some of my favorite magazines include Dazed, Paper, and i-D because of the artistic approaches they utilize in creating their cover designs.
Cover to Cover combines my own studio photography with typographic design, and thematic messaging. At first glance, the viewer sees a series of seemingly typical magazine covers incorporating text with color portraits. A closer look reveals content that is not typically found on magazine covers, not informing the reader of the magazine’s content, but instead providing a provocative message, a poem or prose. Each cover utilizes the design language of magazines, but presents the viewer with a range of topics to contemplate and consider.
Outside of this project you can also check out a full magazine edited, designed, and published by me in collaboration with several writing partners.
